Reasonable RPM's?
When towing a trailer it seems necessary to keep the transmission out of overdrive when going up a steep grade. At 55 mph my engine is running a 2,200 in 4th gear. Redline on tack is about 3,300. Is it reasonable to run at the 2,200 for extended periods while going over a pass? Is faster advisable? Just wondering what you guys think is a smart rpm range to not exceed for extended periods. Like 15 miles or so?
We have 6.4s at work on a few of our smaller bucket trucks and we call them powerjokes. if one powerjoke breaks down in our fleet within the next couple weeks they all break down, it spreads like the flu
