24v crack block?
There were some faults in the casting of the 53 block, the block just designates who made it and when, there where 130000 blocks produced with the 53 on it, and those were despersed to truck companies, dodge, case tractor, mac don ect if you have it I wouldent worry to much about it just keep a weary eye, they fail because of the lack of warm up before hauling or lack of cooling

I have the 53 block and it was a farm truck and pulled horse trailers. i have 180k and i let her get to 115+ before she moves. if its any lower i just put it in drive and coast.
I dont think i have to worry about it cracking unless im pulling the sled! (knocks on wood)

the 53 block was used up to year model 2002 i believe. and the 2nd number is usually behind that line that you were speaking of. i couldnt see it, but i felt it with my finger and my 2001 has a 55 block
