Edge and 100s will be more than enough till u get a turbo. Also need to look at upgrading the clutch if a manual, or torque converter and valve body if it's an auto

 

could anybody tell me why or which one is failing i understand they both need replacing but just curios as to whats actually making the truck shut off so sudden with it running fine is it the electrical portion of the vp??? plan on doing the work myself so id like to know as much about the problem as possible

It's your electronics on the vp. The 98.5 and 99 don't throw the check engine light as much as the newer vp trucks do
