Default Anybody know what this is under the dash

Hello I have a part under the dash that stays warm to hot all the time even when I haven't started or driven the truck does anybody know what it is or what it does? It is about 1 1/2 inches long maybe 3/4 inch diameter aluminum
cylinder in the picture. A little left of the steering column. Kinda worried about a fire it gets so hot sometimes

Not 100% but I think it's the flasher for your turn signals, pull it out and see if your signals still blink. I don't know why it would be hot .

I think the flasher for turn signals is on the fuse block itself. I was told that little cylinder is a bi-metallic strip that times interior stuff like the light around the ignition key on newer style steering columns.

That cylinder is designed to get hot. It's the timer for the halo light around your ignition switch it's working properly if it gets hot.

Good to know that it is normal, not that excited about the design though. I believe Dodge could of done something different. I will not worry myself with the heat since everyone here says they are supposed to get hot. Thanks for all of the replies.
