Default 518 to 47rh swap questions

I was told by a very reputable guy that if i planned on building any serious power i would need to ditch the 518 and get a 47rh so my question is can i use my same transfer case? i need a 2nd gen engine plate and starter? do i need nex driveshaft lengths? what to do with cross member? and how to control lock up

the 518 can hold power you just need to build it up like any other tranny. the 47rh to hold power would have to be built also. i know a lot of guys control the lock up manually with a switch. my a518 holds up fine to the power i have since i put a couple grand into a build up

i was planning on spending a little over 4 grand on either tranni to build it right but upon doing my research id rather put the 4k in the 47rh because of the lock up tc the easy availabiltiy of billet parts and i can run the tc and valvebody i want to run as compared to the 518 im limited to a suncoast converter cause they are the only company that works w a billet flexplate
