Default truck running hotter and oil pressure suddenly higher

i was driving tonight and like i always do i monitor the guages alot! i noticed the truck was running hotter then normal and the oil pressure was on the 2nd to last line to right of guage when it is normally in the middle of guage not on a line. i was fooling around before this happend and didnt realize the truck was in 2nd gear on the auto trans and i stomped on it and it was at rev limiter for 3-5 seconds and this started happening afterwards. i am 5,000 miles on this last oil change that also triggered me to notice the oil pressure was too high. if anyone knows what could of happend or if somethings wrong please help very concerned!!

My guess is a set of mechanical gauges would disprove what the stock gauges r saying. My truck does the same thing from time to time. I've all but proven its an electrical issue, just haven't pinpointed it yet.

yea but what would cause alot of pressure in the case? maybe a bad PCV valve?? and also what would cause it to run hotter now?

These trucks dont have ccv (closed crankcase ventilation) like gassers no pvc valve you have a breather that vents the tappet cover into a blow down tube. Excessive pressure is caused by compression leaking past the rings...

I would check the ground from the battery to the core support. If there isn't one, make one. As for the oil smell I would check the valve covers to see if they are leaking on the manifold. Mine does the same thing when i get it on a hard pull. Mine don't leak anymore but the old oil hasnt burned off yet.

Check your running battery voltage. Maybe the regulator is shot and you are overcharging causing your gauges to read too high. The same thing can happen if a main bearing turns, but it would have seized up on you by now if that was the problem.
