Default 1st gen. 12v to chevy swap

I looking in to taking the 12v out of my 93 D250 and putting into a early 90's Chevy 3500 4x4 dually and was wondering if anyone has done it and if their are any wiring kits you can buy or if you have to splice all the wires and are there kits for motor mounts or are did y'all build them from scratch

What year Chevy? 1991 was the last year for solid front axle on a K3500. What transmission is in your Chevy?

I don't have a chevy yet but I would like a 95 3500 crew cab 4x4 and the trans it will ether be an NV4500 or a 4L80. but I'm more worried about the wiring, because I can get adapters for the trans and weld in the mounts since i'm a auto tech now and I could make the wires work it would just be easier with a harness.

I would also like to know how the IFS holds up so i know how long i would have before a solid axle swap

I've also got a 96 Tahoe with a Cummins / NV4500 up front and the IFS has never been an issue. Where people get in trouble is when they horse it around in 4x4. The CV shafts are not not strong enough to take serious abuse. And yes, they may not be as strong as a solid front axle but they sure ride a whole lot better.

I've seen more issues out of the rack/pinion steering set up being weak than CV shafts failing. They do make beefed up inner/outter tie rod ends to solve that issue.

I don't believe rack / pinion steering was introduced until the GMT800 platform came out. He's putting a Cummins in the older GMT400 platform.

Ahhh I follow ya, that's much beefier than the r/p although when the IFS is flexed substantially ive heard of one tire turning while the other basically sits still. The geometry wasn't designed with heavy articulation in mind. Not saying its something to be concerned with

I reused the first gen block mounts and rubbers connected to a fabricated crossmember to fit the frame. It's pretty easy as first gen mounts use one hole and are both at about a 45 degree angle.

For wiring, I made a new harness with female spade connectors to the fuel shutoff, and eyelets to the grid heaters and their relays. I also run those off of a momentary switch in the cab so I use them when I need them and for about 20 seconds max each time.

That's good I just plan on using the truck to trailer my cherokee to trails and not wheeling it so I guess the IFS will work for my needs. I would like to know if there are any wiring kits or just slicing to make the gauges work
