Default DIY Upgrades?

What are some good DIY upgrades for free or cheap (Maybe $100)? One of my favorite mods is removing the turbo silencer ring and straight pipe exhaust. The truck I am considering purchasing is a '91-'93 1-ton dually 2wd auto. I know I can also move the fuel plate a little and a nice aftermarket air filter, but what else? Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Well unless the truck has been converted to a p pump there is no fuel plate. Look in the sticky on tuning your VE Pump and read up to learn how everything works. Make sure you get some gauges before you go playing with it too much. Anyways with the ve pump the best and cheapest mods are a 3200 gov spring, upgraded fuel pin (Denny T) or turn your stock one, timing bump 1/8" and some turns on your fuel screw. Then tune your afc with the starwheel.

buy a pryro gauge before doing ANY fuel mods. You will be surprised how easy it is to run you EGT's to hot

Cut up your stock air box and remove the metal mouse trap ir make a bhaf. For a little more the $100 id get an m&h dynamic timing spacer. And ofi has a lp lift pump in the $150 range
