Default S300

I found this turbo forsale today this is the add. "A Borg Warner S300 turbo, It is a 65/71 with a 16 cm housing if i remember right with a .91 a/r. The guy at polk diesel said it was in good shape, other than it needed journal bearings and a compressor housing. Originally came off a 8.1 litre John Deere engine. $100" Would this be a good turbo to get for my truck after I rebuild it or no? I plan on getting a set of 5x.14 injectors soon. Is 65/71 going to be to big for the amount of fuel I'll be pushing?

The s300 is a pretty streetable turbo. Lights real quick, doesn't take too much fuel to spool it. It's a pretty good investment.

Why does it need a new compressor housing?

"Needs bearings and a housing" sounds like a blown turbo to me - came apart on the truck, now junk.

Kinda what I was thinking, compressor housing don't just go
Bad... Usually takes a compressor wheel exploding to do that trick

That's kind of what I was thinking too but I was wondering if it was going to be worth fixing or not, and it says it's off a john deere motor so i'm guessing something might have gone through the motor. Should I just look for a different turbo?

Seeing is believing. I'd definitely inspect it for myself.
