Sweet, glad to hear from somebody who's done it! Im really excited to drive it around when I get it done. Im ending up pulling a lot more apart than I wanted to but hey, thats how it goes. Im actually having to pull the motor part way out now to do an oilpan gasket and ive had to pull my radiator and grille for all of it... But hey, itll be worth it when I get it over with! I found out that my front axle U joints were fried too so by the time I'm done, the only major component I won't have pulled out and/or apart will be the rear Axle (knock on wood) and it's got quite a bit of backlash in the R&P so Itll be next! either a new R&P or a dana 80 upgrade...

[QUOTE=That93Guy;849971]I finally got rid of every sign of the fact that there used to be an automatic transmission in that truck today. Got rid of all the coolers

I left the small cooler , up by the radiator, plumbed it in to the return line of the P/S pump. Give it a little more capacity and helps keep it cool.

I actually thought about it but I have a jeep that would love that cooler and my truck spends like 90% of its time on the highway and I doubt its PS fluid ever even gets hot.

You can't break anything using more sense than stupidity, with this said, with 300 Hp and the 29/23 spline adapt and a 45 or 5600 , has anyone heard of the adapter breaking, or worse yet the input to the t case?

Ive only heard successful stories so far. It would definitely be the input shaft to snap, its a substantially smaller diameter than the 29 spline shaft. I will be in the market for a new transfercase or the parts to upgrade mine in the next couple years.

i smoked my d70 that has 4.10s and a killer posi 3 weeks after my swap was towing heave and the pinion let loose truck now has a corporate 14bolt in it

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

theres no sense or reason in buying a new t case the np205 is bullet proof i have friends that cant keep there 2nd gen tcases together while the 29 to 23 spline adapter sounds like a weak spot i have lit my 37n tires towing and its still holding up

Do you have your engine modded to break that 70? Mine has an awful lot of wear, Im starting to worry slightly about it for when I starting pumping up the power.

And I was meaning just to find a 29 spline NP205 or a new case and input shaft, gear, bearing etc to upgrade mine. I can buy the new parts to upgrade mine for about $500 or I can find a 29 spline one somewhere.

Has anybody whose done this conversion had an issue with the starter being too close to the frame? Mine seems to be touching which might be because the motor is tilted via the oblong holes on the crossmember that holds it in place, anyhow I was just curious if anybody's had that issue.

Default Its done!

Its done! Im taking it to Sheridan today (about 300 miles) so we'll find out if it all went as well as I think it did I guess. Everything feels solid, I took it out on the highway and got it up to 75 or so and everything felt great. Still need to get a boot for the transfercase shifter so itll be a little more quiet but other than that its all good it seems!

Laugh

So the truck made it to Sheridan and back and actually went to Billings Mt. as well so Its got 870 miles on the NV4500 and so far all is well! Ill start a Build thread for this in-case anybody wants to do this conversion in the future they can get pics and info on everything necessary. Ill compile all the useful pics and info including prices and possibly even part numbers so anybody who is interested, keep an eye out for the thread in the next couple days! Ill title it Auto to NV4500 Swap or something to the likes. There seems to be a lot of interest in these swaps so maybe itll help some people out.
