I believe they're the same except for obviously the hole. I haven't heard of any modifications needing done from anybody other than cutting a hole and the boot.

I have done the swap in my sig myself. I had a 1990 donor for parts, that i wrecked. The humps are the same in auto and manual 4x4 rigs, the 2wd's are different. For the wiring the only thing i had to do was ground 1 wire in the tranny loom in order for it to start, the park and neutral switch. However i have yet to hook up my backup lights and i also dont have a clutch safety switch so it will start without depressing the clutch. I used the Getrag tranny and everything worked out fine. Althought Getrag is shorter than 518 so i used donor's drivelines.

So I'm trying to put together a list of everything Ill need to do this swap. I really don't want to end up with a half done project due to something I forgot to get , and I really want to have a pretty complete list before I buy the transmission so I can make sure I can get ahold of everything else.

This is what I have so far:

1. Dodge fitted NV4500 Transmission
2. Bell housing (NV4500 donor)
3. Block adapter plate (NV4500 donor)
4. 23 – 29 spline adapter for transfercase
(or a 29 spline input, right side front shaft transfercase)
5. Pedal set from a first gen with a getrag
6. Slave Cylinder for either manual
7. Boots
8. Clutch (although I have no Idea what one I should get yet)
9. Flywheel (NV4500 donor)
10. Starter (NV4500 donor)
11. New (adjusted length) driveshafts

Do you guys know anything i'm missing? Any small stuff like hoses or special hardware? Any wiring? Any anything like that?

Ill definitely be posting lots of pics of the swap and lots of info when I get this all done so DB will have at least one thread that un-transmission-educated people like me can use for future swaps. Ill be doing the swap in my Manual transmission and Drivetrain course at college this next semester, so Ill have some knowledgeable instructors around when I do the swap...

You might want to find out if the motor is internal balanced or external on the flywheel. As for the wiring if you take your time you can make it work like it should without changing PCM's

How would you know about the balancing? and I heard all you need to do is ground a wire that goes to the Neutral/Park safety switch and it will start, but it will also start with the clutch out and in gear unless you wire up something else.

I could try and find out from one of our old techs. our service info dose not go back that far.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I checked and I think the first gen cummins is internally ballanced

I just did this swap 6 months ago. Best thing I ever did.

Being in So Cal (Land of automatics) the hardest part of the swap was finding the pedal setup.

Did it take anything else other than what I posted for the parts list? and did you run into any other complications?
