Can heating oil be used as fuel?
Hello guys,
I am a plumber and when we do a conversion of oil to gas boiler sometimes we end up whith a lot of left over heating oil. I was told that heating oil is the dame as diesel except less refined? If I filter the oil can this be used safely with out risk of damaging mechanicals or seals?
Tx gonzy

Heating oil is # 2 fuel, not #1. You only have #1 if the tank is to be outside in very cold weather. Usually #1 is referred to as Kerosene or K1. I have run heating oil for years in my off road and boats. During the winter I have the delivery guy spit me 30 % K1 and 70 % #2 to make it so it does not gel.
