Best oil for Getrag trans
Ok i bought a 92 w350 with 140k origanal miles on it for $1200 and had the 5spd rebuilt for bout $1100 by a buddy but what's the proper oil that i need to put in it and additive? Any idea's or help would be awsome thanks!
80/90, you definitely won't have any gear noise with that
. I don't think it'd hurt it any but royal purple sure makes some top of the line stuff. Expensive... But for the few quarts you'll actually need... Go ahead and splurge.

20 year old info or not, I don't believe that anything of a thicker viscosity than Synthetic 5-W30 will do it any good.
The lube has to have a GL-5 rating.
If it doesn't at least say that on the bottle, throw it away.
The "next best" stuff to run in the getrag would be the stuff they put in the NV4500, Castrol Syntorque, but it's still noticeably thicker.
Mark.
