Default tps delete

i want to delete tps! i know there are potentiometer kits for around 40 bucks but i also know that a potentiometer cost 10 or less. there are different ohm ranges on them and id like to know what ohm range i need. i have also heard of a using a toggle. does anyone have any details on how to do that. just checkin all my options. by the way im a real tightwad and i can build just about anything with the info, so the cheaper the better as long as it works.

To use a togle switch, find teh two wire on the side of teh transmission. One will be a constant 12v with the key on, the other is a switched ground, simple cut the ground wire and put it on a toggle switch to GROUND. When you want OD flip teh swith grounding the circuit.

If you do what he says the tps is no longer involved and it will shift into overdrive any time it is in third gear and the switch is on. It has to be in third for od to work. If you want use a pot you need a 5ohm linear one, not an audio one.

Ive done a couple conversions to potentiometer and they work great. be aware though shifting into OD is auto, but the auto kick down to third will not work. another helpful mod when doing this is putting the od switch / shifter handle from a 98 -01 so you dont have to reach down to the dash button when your doing mach3.

well today i did a potentiometer conversion. i havent drove it yet but im looking forward to it after my 2 hour commute turned into a 3 hour commute with a topspeed of 52 mph! (people have no sense of humor following at that speed) ughhh! i stopped at radioshack and picked up one 5k linear potentiometer and a pack of heat shrink with a total cost of 10 bucks! when i pick the final home in the dash i will select an appropriate **** for an additional 2 bucks. i will update with pics and results

i will look for the number. i know it was a 5k linear taper potentiometer. not an audio potentiometer.
