What kind of paint would i use to paint valve covers and turbo? And ane Glowshift guages any good?

i personly dont like glow shift some people i know have them and they dont like them either they are cheap and you get what you pay for as for paint i would use anything tempature resistant

you can paint them with MOELLERS high heat paint you can get from a boating stores and auto stores. used it on turbo, intake manifold, and valve covers

Just my 2 cents... Not a good idea to paint your turbo or exhaust manifold. they are bare for a reason, to help let the heat escape. if you paint them it will hold heat in = higher egt's = possible engine damage. if it's just a DD and your egts are low all the time, it wont hurt anything. if you have a high hp engine or tow you could see a rise in egts. Like I said- just my opinion.

All the stock turbos I have seen are painted black anyways so I dont think it will hurt anything anyways but thats my opinion.:hellox:

good point someone that thinks on my level...

we had this huge deal on cf a while back about SMOOTH SHINY surfaces vrs. COARSE ROUGH surfaces and what lets heat dissipate better

the difference on the dyno for EGT, Heat Absortion, and HP were hardly different but there was difference. If this was a drag truck that ran a 6 sec 1/4 and you wanted to go faster I would tell you to rough up all your surfaces but for a DD or even a drag truck dont waste the time

I got some DEI high temp paint for my exhaust wrap and I painted my turbo housing with it. It's got a ceramic base, once it cooks itself on it looks good, real good. Too bad my ATS exhaust manifold wasn't painted with it, their coating is starting to peel already... And i don't even run crazy temps. My truck slowly creeps to 1200 pre turbo and I haven't even let it get past that. The DEI paint is supposed to be good to 1400 or 1600 degrees I think. I'm satisfied with it, only comes in flat. Silver, copper and black I believe.

Im not going to paind the exhaust side of the turbo. should i get new gaskets for the valve covers?

uh.... guys.... How would painting the exhaust side of your engine cause higher EGT's and harm your engine? Think about it for a min and get back to me... :D

The only problem would be getting paint to stay.

i have heard about this theory too that painting it raises egt's but i agree with rswords i dont see how that is possible yeah its a rough surface but it you acitone it not sand it its still gunna be a rough surface after you paint it, with that said i have had many people tell me it will raise egt's so i havent done it :humm: i think i am going to polish the intake side though cus the factory paint is chipping now:tu: and the middle stripe of the truck is next im goin matte black down the side and black on everything chrome on the body door handle bumper trim ect...
