First, At the speeds the exhaust is flowing through the housing it wont have time to dump off much heat in the housing, Second, uh... once the exhaust is at the housing its already been through your engine.... How exactly is it gonna hurt it if its never going to touch it after that point... :D

One could argue that by holding heat in the exhaust side, especially the manifold you would help decrease spool up time. But I'm willing to bet there is little if any change in EGT temp.

A rough surface will remove heat faster then a smooth all things equal do to more surface area, same concept as cooling fins on tranny pans and dif covers.

thats exactly what my thoughts were, and if your like me with very minor pump tweaks and costom intake and 4" turbo back then my egt's im shure stay pretty low, i dont know for shure because i was gunna do guages but now im just gunna buy the stage 3 water meth kit because it comes with boost and egt guages:jump::rocking:

your EGT's are your EGT's... I dont care if your turbo exhaust housing is rough, smooth, purple, white, black, or stock.... Or any combination of them.... Your temps in teh cylinders is the same and will not change. No damage to your motor will come from painting your turbo.

You have to swap the core support.

should i get new gaskets for the valve covers?

you don't need new gaskets, unless they're leaking now. they are reusable gaskets.

Re-useable to a certain extent.... If they are the original gaskets check them out and make sure there are no rips and such. Once you press them tight a few times they will get worn out and wont seal as tight as they should. And be sure to clean off any debris and oil on the head where the gaskets seal before you put them back on. That can cause leaks as well.
