Default Difference in T-case's?

Is there any difference in a 205 t-case thats bolted up to a auto compared to one thats bolted up to a Getrag? A friend is giving me their t-case that was bolted up to a getrag and id like to use it with my A-518 tranny. Are possibly the splines on the shafts different or something? I dont have the one out of my truck yet to compare them. Thanks.

Yes they are different and the one that comes behind the getrag is like gold to some people they are very hard to come by

But isn't the 205 behind the getrag a 29 spline and the one behind the 727 and the 518 23 spline

yep... thats were the coupler comes in handy. I can't remember if you use the stock one or need to buy an adaptor one... Either way they are cheap.

Call Advanced Adaptors, I looked quick on there site and didn;t see it but I know they have the coupler that works with this or can tell you if its the stock one you need.

I retract.... I read this thread on 1st gen... Thats what I was thinking of...

1stGen.org • View topic - 23 spline to 29 spline Adapter, Any Interest?

It was not AA making them... Pain pills tend to cloud your memory.

Looks like Mark Nixion has one, maybe he will chime in....

This will let you run the stronger Getrag NP205 behind your automatic tranny.

will a 727 np205 bolt to a 47re or 48re? I havent read about it much but my boss is looking into buying a non-ic and swapping in one of his OD transmissions.

i looked into making a 47re that i had work with my truck and im pretty sure that the 205 will bolt up. im not sure about the clearance with the seal on the t-case though. and you will have to change out a few things to get the 47re or 48re work. ud basically have to change it into a 47rh. things like o/d unit, valve body, torque converter, planetaries, adapter plate, starter and stuff like that. 1stGen.org • View topic - 47re to 47rh parts . i just deciede to save time and money and use a A-518.
