Default turbo mods

I have a turbo off of a 92 first gen that i'm upgrading with a bigger compressor and a 12cm exhaust housing. I have the compressor apart but how does that exhaust housing come off the center section?

There are 2 brackets and 4 bolts and its going to be rusted on there so put it on your work bench for a day or so and keep spraying the seem with some pb blaster or what ever you have available at least that's what I did with mine be careful not to hit the turbine wheel with the housing on removal hope this helps

A really big hammer will help, and don't be afraid to use it! This may sound silly, but if you have room in your freezer put it in there. The cold will shrink it a little, which will hopefully help somewhat.

Woke up this morning thinking about this ^^^ and I can't remember how the turbine and centre housing are mated. If they bolt straight up, face to face without any type of flange or lip, cooling it down won't help.

The center section slips into a counter bore in the exhaust housing. I've had to use a torch to get the rust to break on some. Others I got luck and the penetrating oil did the trick. Going back together I use anti-seize. While you have it apart, throw a bushing kit in it.
