I use black smoke as a safe alternative to hand gestures and firearms when I am cut off or some one gets in front of me only to slam on their brakes and turn right and its great for getting rid of people that like to ride your ass and yes it is fun to :rocking:

and when I say smoke I mean like what you guys are talking about not a light haze thats ok but all these guys that run around and make the sky dark everytime they leave a stoplight you need to be slapped

all my trucks smoke like trains if you smash the go pedal to the floor but when I am not at the track I turn my boxes down in the 24V trucks and dont drive like a douche in the 12V

ya i believe there is a time and a place for it. like my video is in my yard and i only did it cuz my brother kept bugging me but i dont like romping on it like that, that was a one time thing. my friends get a little puff when i see them but nothing major because i dont want to piss the wrong person off.
someday i will make good power with not all my money in fuel going up in the air as smoke.

My truck is a dirty smokey pig when its on stage 5. But at 3 its allmost as fast and only puffs at the start then a light haze. Unfortunatly it isnt shift on the fly so it stays on 5 so when one of you dodge or dmax guys wants to play and starts pushing buttons on the edge its fair.:w2:

So am I the only one with pics/vid of smoke with the truck actually doing something? :alone2:

Once the engine and turbos get spooled, most of the smoke clears up. :pca1:

There's a difference though, isn't there, between you running at the track and you driving home from the track. I find it hard to believe you would be 'smoking people out' when you're driving around town.

Oh! I'm a staunch supporter of those who would call the cops on a "Douche" who's smoking cyclists and pedestrians. Ain't no sense in it.

Though I like the sound of my temporary stack occasionally, I don't like that it puts any smoke my mess makes up in the air calling attention to it while on the streets. >embarrassed<

I enjoy the sound and feel of the engine, I could give a crap less about the smoke. Its funny though because that's the first thing people ask about my truck. :argh::argh:

I think everyone is intitled to there own opinion and if they like smoke then so be it I like a little smoke myself if you dont like some smoke then go buy a gas burner.:dixie:

They ask me what tuner I use so I show them my vice grips and a 1/2" wrench, or whatever the power screw is, can't remember. Aint nothing wrong with a little black smoke every now and then, just gotta know when to do it and when not. I love seeing a little coal out of my 5" stove top stacks. Then again I was raised to be an ole school truck driver, back in the old days of my old man all trucks rolled coal while most had a fire out the stack as well. I understand the kids driving around with their riced out duramaxes doing it but you don't see to many REAL trucks doing it, if they do it's till the turbo lights and for a good reason. 10-4!:c:

now my truck smokes like a tire fire but i dont blow dirty when i drive that is an accident you caused or a ticket in your pocket a person you killed and to much money going out the tailpipe and plus it gives us bombers a bad name yeah its fun somtimes but do it where it will not harm anyone else

I think it's safe to say we ALL like smoke, otherwise we would be driving gassers (:puke:). But there's a time and a place, and on a highway, intersection or other public road isn't it. :nope:

I always like it when some :edit: is tailgating you. That is a perfect time to slam it to the floor and give them something to think about. They usually learn the first time to back up.

You guys are absolutely rite there is a time and a place for smoke. Like a quiet country road or the face of that jerk off tailgating you:bat: but please don't go around smokeing people out:argh:. I started this thread to see what people are doing with there 1st gens and to get a few laughs out of it. :c:

Dar, you know as much as anyone so maybe you can shed some light on it. :tu: But as I'm here, and at risk of being WAY off topic, I'll give it a shot. Any omissions on my part, anyone please feel free to add and edit as necessary.

Big clouds of black smoke = a lot of wasted and incompletely burnt diesel fuel, even though it may look cool, and so the 'wasted' part could be debated. :D I put 'wasted' there as it is contributing very little with regards to creating horsepower. If the fuel is not completely combusted, you didn't get every BTU out of the fuel that you could have, so you're not fully harnessing that fuels potential to make power.
Now, you might well be thinking, 'Wait a minute. I see pulling trucks and tractors and even that picture of BC's outstanding vehicle wafting big ol' clouds. What gives?' Well, most all of those engines have essentially fixed timing. That means that the engine only has so much time in order to burn all that fuel. And as we all know, more fuel = more power, (along with various other things.) Additionally, those pulling trucks are using some of that fuel to COOL DOWN the piston crowns and to help transfer heat and stop melting pistons.
Clean stacks and tailpipes = an engine running efficiently. i.e. using all the calorific value the diesel has to offer. OR it means nasty DPF's and choking emissions equipment. :nope::td::dang:

Dadgummit I resemble that statement:tttt:. guess I must be a nube I've only had diesels for 32 years and from my first NT335 cummins until the junk I drive now, when ever I have turned the pumps up they all smoked more and had more power too ( or so it seemed to me and since I have always been the one paying for the fuel and burned pistons and fried turbos) some of you smarter fellers are gonna have to convince me. I aint sayin that you should go arouind blacking out every intersection you take off from, but to condem smoke, my god this is Diesel Bombers:argh::rocking:Rocky

We're not condemning smoke. Just condemning the people that feel its necessary to blow smoke all the time. I do agree with 1arock's opinion to a certain point. More fuel= more power and with more fuel comes smoke. That is unless you have a big enough turbo to clean it up. :choochoo:

It's not necessarily a big turbo that'll clean it up, (for the most part,) it's a fast enough spooling turbo if you've tampered with the AFC... and we all have!

No one with a first, 2nd gen can say they don't have smoke with power. I have seen newer electronic trucks with high power and little to no smoke. These trucks will smoke if tuned up. Its just the way it is. Anyone who has a hopped up first gen with big injectors and some fuel that says my truck don't smoke is not telling the truth. Some do smoke more then others, some smoke more then they need to ( bad afc settings ), but they all smoke. Most people that posted " smoke is stupid " better go and take their trucks back to stock.:moon:
