Default 518 question

i just put a used tranny in my truck its the 518 auto and when im at a stop sign or a stop light after the tranny is warmed up i well step on the gas and it takes a few seconds for the truck to actually start moving. its almost like turbo lag but i know thats not it. Reverse on the oter hand has no problems and is instant at moving. Do you guys know what this could mean or is the tranny just screwed up and needs rebuilt thanks guys

How is the throttle valve going to help? That controls shifting... Is it staying in a high gear when you stop and not down-shifting until you try to accelerate? Does it help if you manually move it to first?

Are you sure it's a Diesel transmission and not a gas transmission?

ok i adjusted the tv cable and it was was over from what it should be so i got it to were it needs to be and did not fix my problem how ever i was testing somethings out and if i put it in drive and i step on the gas the truck well sit for a sec and now it well kick into gear like if i was droping the clutch like a manual. but if i put the tranny manually in first gear then the tranny dose not slip at all and works fine..... and its for sure a diesel tranny its the exact same numbers and stuff as my old 518

Well, that should be a well-enough described problem for a tranny guy to tell you exactly what the problem is. (I am not a tranny guy.)

My solution would be to put a manual valve body in it. Amazing how many shifting problems that solves.
