How often do you actually adjust your bands?

Default How often do you actually adjust your bands?

I was thinking about doing a pan drop and filter change on my transmission just as good preventative maintenance. I always adjust transmission bands when I pull a pan but I haven't taken the pan off of an A518. Should I adjust them or leave them be?

I'm not sure why I would even adjust them at the moment if I don't think it needs adjustment. Even the fluid looks clean regardless that they say ATF 4 color doesn't indicate condition - I call bull on that because a wearing transmission thats out of adjustment eats through friction material faster and has darker color fluid.

I do mine every winter when I drop the pan to clean it. 30+ 1/4 miles passes and 30K miles and still rocking.

you're looking at atleast 8 quarts, all depends how long it drains. i had my VB out for a few days and installed an extra deep aftermarket pan... took 4 gallons + a quart to fill it back up

(518 trans) front band adjustment. Loosen band adjusting screw locknut. Tighten band adjusting screw 72 IN lbs. If extension is used tighten to 47- 50 IN lbs. Then back off adjusting screw 2-1/2 turned. Hold adjuster screw in position. Then tighten lock nut 30ft lbs.
Same for rear only back off adjusting 2 turns. and tighten locknut to 25ft lbs. factory specs. for you opinionated people. I loosen mine 3 turns front band and 2-1/2 rear seems to shift better.
