I guess up here in the minnesota and North and South Dakota areas its quit common for the HP to check your fuel to make sure you are not running farm fuel as its very common around here for the farmers to throw some red farm fuel in the truck and then when they get checked they get slapped with a nice 1000 dollar fine or more. The cops dont like guys gettin by a little easier on the fuel costs. I tried the 2 cycle oil but saw 12 as my best mileage runnin round 65 and put on over 500 miles. any ideas?

infact your patrially correct...ashless is formulated to burn ... verry quickly... wich is the problem that i had its flash/bang burn it too quick to effectivly make greater torque or hp.
ATF burns slower and hotter due to the ammount of detergernts in its formulation wich will reduce the ammount of soot or carbon due to the heat that it will make and its lubricating properties.....
run one tank with 2 cycle added.... then add 1 Qt. atf to a tank.... guarenteed you will go further than the tank with 2 cycle oil...... my truck gained almost 2 mpg with atf in the tank..... motor oil was just used to slow th burn of the 2 cycle oil so it would burn more thural and complete....
2 cycle is in fact a great lubricant in most engines but back when it was used more prominatly was when there was still a lot of sulfer in the fuel and it made it burn hotter and faster....wich was great for power and economy ..... but today's fuel dosent need any help because it already burns hot and clean....just lacks lubrication....which atf and or 2 cycle can come into play.... just be careful how much ya use.... due to the rapid speed that it will make your fuel burn..... in a computer controlled motor the comp. will add or subtract timing to help the engine run smooth and efficent.... look forward to your input further on these experiments..... 4x4manonbroke...

another thing is .... ATF dosent contain any dye's... wont be the same as off road fuel... feel free....all you have to due is take it to court and prove that all your doing is making a cleaner burning fuel thats infact better for the enviroment... you will win guarenteed.... and its cheep and on any gas station shelf.... havent done experiments with synthetic VS regular atf ..... some input there would be kewl....
You wount get in any trouble for adding ATF to the tank....

This may be a stupid question but does it matter what kind of ATF you use?

i havent dont any testing on mpg's with different grades like
synthetic, +4, type F, and such ...... i will be using different grades to see if there's any substancial differences.... i would think synthetic would be better nut thats still yet to be proved for the time....i'm gonna start with type f and work up to the most expencive stuff and keep track closley to my mpg's ....... i drive my IDI hard no matter what i typically shift at 3k any ways so i will keep the hammer down and let ya know.

This is what I was always told about using oil in the tank.

Use ASHLESS 2 cycle oil only. Using the 2 cycle oil is for lubrication purposes only. I use a quart for every tank fill up, and run about 1000 a week in my truck, keeping a log book of every tank mielage. Average run is 22-23 all highway miles

DONT use any synthetic oil in the tank. Something about synthetic that could harm the fuel system or pump is what I was always told. I never did it so I allI have is what others have told me.
