Default Getrag Shifter

I have a 93 with the Getrag. I can take my shifter and swing it side to side, hits the dash on either side of the truck. I can kind of get it in gear but it is a pain. Do I need to pull just the shifter or the whole top plate to try and find the source of this issue? Anyone know where to find a manual to do this?
Thanks!!

I saw that the other day, thanks. The link in that thread for the manual is dead, the exploded view link worked but its small enough I cant tell what I am looking at in regards to the shifter.

Thanks, that will be great if I need to pull the tranny and rebuild it. Interesting the manual shows nothing about removing the shifter and states to replace the entire shift cover if any parts are worn.

Anyone know if my issues can be found in just removing the shifter or do I need to pull the trans, mine cant be the first to do this. I have been searching this site and google looking for people with a swinging shifter but have not found much.

There are two bolts that connect the handle to the actual shift arm of the tranny. The shifter handle has a piece of metel crimped at the bottom were it bolts to the shift arm. That crimp (that has rubber in it for an isolator) was really loose on mine, causing a similar problem like you have. I just pulled the handle off and smacked the crimp a couple times with a 2lb
