Jack it up and check all points for slop being your truck is 21-17 years old things can go bad bushings ect..... I would also recommend using a high quality grease and hitting all 20 something zirks bumper to bumper but check out that front end/steering before you grease sometimes grease will take up the slop and the issue will go away

My truck has done the same thing for thousands of miles, the problem is it wont do it on a jack only driving around sharp corners. I have never owned a rig with worse steering than these 1st gens have! They go like heck but stopping or turning is a gamble.

check your steering gear box mounting plate. mine did the same for about 1500 miles and then one day it snapped completely and i lost all steering. it would be really bad if it gave out wile driving. i lost all ability to steer to the left and got caught at an intersection like tht

My 92 pops only when you arent moving and you turn the wheel, idk what it is either, i just keep everything greased and dont worry about it, check the gearbox to mounting plate bolts mine had one broke off and the other three were about to fall out when i got it and it had a death wobble like you have never experienced .

well i did however check the mounting plate and as far as i could see the bolts are still in place and not broken i think it may be something in the gearing box
