Default 1st gen with inner cooler

Can any one tell me if it is alright to inner cool a stock 89 12v? It has no waste gate, on the stock turbo.I put it in a 99 ford S.D. with an inner cooler, and 4" exhaust. Also I need to have the inj. pump rebuilt, anyone know a good place to send it?

Why do you need to have the injection pump rebuilt?

You'll be fine with intercooling the stock engine. If you want the added weight, complexity, boost leaks, reduced throttle response, reduced engine efficiency, et cetera.

Theres a place by me that rebuilds them and they are great! Its called Hucksdorf. Its about 500-700 to rebuild a pump plus and parts that need to be replaced.I had mine done there and boy does she run good!

wow begle....

If you have the intercooler in the truck already go ahead and hook it up, cool dense air will always make more power. This is especially true if you plan on turning up the power.

i put a intercooler out of a 01'cummins and the intake horn and tubing out of a 95 cummins in my 89 and i runs great. i seemed to have more turbo responce i thought and deffinetly a little more power and that was with the stock turbo. i had to make up a custom elbow to hook it up to the turbo though. only problem i ran into was with the grill. it doesnt fit so until i have someone take like an inch or so off of the back of it, i put some wire mesh on. kinda like a knock off billet grill. since you have it in a ford you might have enough room but i dont know.

I think he is talking about using the factory for intercooler that is already in the truck.
