help! clicking noises
so in my 92 when i drive it the engine is twice as loud in the cab as i think it should be. it is the engine because the pitch changes with the rpm's, but it is just clicking noises. it doesnt sound like the engine does outside it just sounds like weird engine clicking/clunking.
anyone else have this problem?
i dont really know how to describe it but its is really annoying

Valve lash is the clearance between the rocker arm and the valve stem's tip.
On an engine with mechanical rockers there is an adjuster and locknut at the end of the rocker arm.
This allows you to use feeler guages and re-set the lash (or clearance).
In higher mileage engines that the lash hasn't been maintained on, the engine can get very noisy and even run rougher.
On several occasions I've adjusted them on these engines and actually noticed they ran better.
It's also a cheap thing to try to do, the worst you'll have to do is replace valve cover gaskets.
Mark.

took it up to my diesel guy because i dont have the time right now to take it apart. its still there now. he said its not in the engine. valve lash was fine. had a leak at the back of the turbo, its fixed, and still makes the noise. he said he's gonna look underneath it. any idea what it could be if its not the valve lash?
thanks

hey guys. turns out its nothing with the engine at all. somehow things have gotten shifted. probably when i first took it mudding in august which is when this started, the engine or cab has moved and are touching eachother, and amplifying the sound. picked it up so i guess i know what im doing this weekend

going to do that. anyone know where the cab mount up side is? i think the left front cab mount has sagged in thats why its touching the tranny i believe. is it only accessible under the floor? or is it under the cab entirely?
my other thought is either a manifold gasket is shot, or theres a hole in the cab by the engine because if you rev in neutral you can smell some fumes sometimes.
