Default What about swapping cabs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im going to start restoring my truck soon and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any problems with swappin the original cab out with a 86 gas cab. I know it'll bolt up. Im talkin like electrical stuff. Changing the guages. Possibly steering column. Thanks

if the gas cab is an auto the tranny tunnel wont clear a 5spd. if the gas is a 4spd your good. if your truck is an auto it really doesnt mater. i have an 85 gas cab on mine. it was from a 2wd auto. my truck is an auto and i want to put a 5spd in so i just cut the tunnels out and switched them.

i switched the dash and all the wiring out of the diesel cab. the only problem that i had was finding a cab mount's(the rubber) because the ones that go between the cab and bracket a discontinued. you can by the lower ones but those dont go bad. i eventually found pollyurethane ones. there is no difference between the gas and diesel ones but when i took mine apart they looked pretty bad......thats pa winters for you.

ya hopefully mine arent too bad. CT now puts straight salt down and over the past two winters my truck has been trashed by it.

They are 30 year old pieces of rubber, I dont think it matters where you live they just dont last forever, If I were doing a cab swap Id just buy the polyurethane kit and change them

if you do find a place, can you post in here, and let us know? I'll probably be looking for a set soon enough too...
