Default puting a cummings in a 1 ton gastruck

i want to put a 1st gen cummings in a 85 1ton crewcab 4wd will it fit the transmission

use the search button. and a gasoline tranny will not hold the power of a cummins, second of all im not sure if itll bolt up it depends on which transmission you have in it now.

and its "cummins" there is no g.

i have a 5 speed standard but it is for 2wd and the truck is 4wd

Just do a divorce mount setup then, you can use all the cummmins stuff that way and junk the gasser trans.

then find a 4x4 dodge transmission and transfer case already behinda cummins and save yourself the headache. but this thread needs to be moved to the diesel engine conversions forum

From what I understood is the earlier dodges had weaker frames and had problems with cracking, so probably have to do some reinforcement on it to handle the Cummins. So that would be a no, I don't think the 85 frame will handle it in stock form.

The gasser trannies won't bolt up. As far as the frame...an 85 Crew Cab should have the 8" frame and will be fine.
