Yeah... Buy a front seal and make sure it comes with the install kit. I got lucky... Mine is in right.

what do you mean by make sure it comes with the install kit. and does it matter if it is the full gasket or grey rtv gasket maker.

Best kit is had from your closet!

Other than that they seem to be at most diesel shops. Throw a thread in the price quote and you should get several places.

And Bobby is talking about the oil seal around the crank shaft in the front cover. The cummins part # is 3937111, just ordered mine earlier this week so that is the current # for the seal kit with the alignment tool.:tu:

LOCKTITE THE BOLTS TOO!
ha ha Just to remind ya.:hellox:

yea will do, i read that but, i might as well just buy the kit from source automotive diesel. it comes with the seal, the pin retainer, and the rtv gasket maker. i just don't know if a full timing case gasket is better than the rtv.

Not the gasket, the seal for the front of the crank.

DieselPerformanceGuy 02-25-2010 01:38 PM

are they anything i should change when doing this, or look out for.

pewder 02-25-2010 03:04 PM

Stuff a rag down at the very bottom to ensure that none of the junk falls down into the oil pan while your cleaning the surfaces. Make sure you get all those hidden bolts with some locktite too, and then make sure that crank:tu: seal seats right when ya slip it on.
