Default Oil Pressure drops when accelerating

OK so when im stopped at a light or such and i hit the gas to go my oil pressure gauge drops to 0 and then comes back up to normal. I think ive isolated it to when the turbo spools, but the interesting part is the actual oil pressure warning light never comes on. Is this normal?

I would just put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it. i did it the same time i put a water temp gauge because my stock one was acting up.

My 1996 had that problem, it was the oil pressure sending unit. Its be around 35 at idle then you would accelerate and it would go to zero. New sending unit fixed that

Had that concern with my 89 so i put a mech gauge right at the filter base and i had 90 psi at an idle witch is within spec at that location. Ended up being my sender. Most trucks run about at half the gauge maybe a little lower at an idle . I have had cummins trucks with close to 500k that still carried 40+ at idle .. Altho a 24 valve oil pump is a good upgrade they are rated at 120psi..

just checked maintinince manual it states.

low idle min-10psi
at rated speedmin-30psi
regulated pressure-50psi
(regulated pressure would be where your factory sender is located)
