ok guys the rails on my shift tower are ALL jacked up, it cant enough shift itself out of gear anymore. i tore it off the tranny today and it was all jacked up, had my tranny guy look at it and told me it is toast.

please tell me someone has a shift tower layin around off a blown up tranny. anyone?

 

Shift covers are a common wear item on these transmissions.... Also most transmission shops do not like to work on the Getrag and will try to sell you a NV4500 conversion. I just rebuilt my Getrag for a total cost of $330... that included new beraings, seals, synchros, input shaft, and 5th gear for the mainshaft...

i dont want to rebuild it i dont have the time. the tranny was just rebuilt like 15 thousand miles ago the shift tower has just been not right ever since it was rebuilt

 

i been told that even reasting your hand on the shifter will screw the top plate up. i gpt the whole top at a junk yard for 30 bucks.

 

ive called all the junk yards and they wont sell bad transmissions or seperate them. they say if theyre bad they rebuild them and sell them instead of selling cores

 

hey freak007 did you rebuild your getrag yourself? If so how big of a job is it? I've never had one opened up.
