Default Injection pump problem

ok i think my pump is going out but im not positive. my truck was running fine all day then when i got home and came to a stop before i put it in park it died. it fired back up just fine but died as soon as i put it in gear again. now it starts hard and dies when i put it in gear when it is cold. its not bleeding back and the idle is plenty high, actually alittle too high.

i dont know about yours but on the second gens when the torque convertor starts coming apart and locking up inside they will stall when put in gear.

The odds of your injection pump going out isn't very likely but thats not to say that it can't. Never say never. Anyways, It could very well be the injection pump and sounds like the main cause of your problem. At the same time it could be something else because if it starts its getting fuel. So, its either not getting enough fuel when its in gear or something else is wrong. Sorry I have such limited knowledge of the first gens.

well have you checked the lift pump( if it's stock), it might be going out.

if it runs fine other then idle, then i wouldn't think it to be the lift pump, when my stock lift pump went out the truck would run right to save it's life.....all i could get it to do was idle, didn't matter if i held it flat or half throttle. don't no what to tell you other then i don't think it is your lift pump
