I see in a lot of truck descriptions they you rag or getrag. What does this mean?

 

its a 5 speed manual transmission that came in the cummins trucks

 

In teh 1st gen cummins trucks

 

they arn't so wonderfull... i got 160k on my 90 an the tranny shifts like crap, the shifter is pritty sloppy an every now an then it likes to get stuck if 5th gear, as soon as it craps out i think it will be time for an upgrade

 

typical for the rag get a shifter bushing kit

 

When over filled a qt and not lugged while towing teh rg is the best 5-speed out there. No 5th gear issues like teh NV4500, shifts faster then teh NV4500, and no huge gap between 2 and 3rd like teh NV4500. Sounds like someone abused yours, sorry.

 

my 91 has close to 220 k on it and its still good. it has towed hard

 

my 93 is pushing 286k and no real issues, 2nd gear syncro is wearing and thats about it *shrug*
