my 91 dodge started loseing power on me,started smokeing then staled out,it will tern over no kick.give it some quick start and it goes and runs fine. i have a new electric fuel pump on it its a 7 psi 130gph. i changed the fuel filter tryed it agen it will go 3miles then start loseing power agen. i have a clean air filter on it as well. befor it only did it once and a while now its all the time i go about 3 miles. i took the top off where the tps is to see if there was dirt in there. it looked fine but the black plunger has a little cut in it i would say its the trouble but not sher.

by black plunger are you talking about the fuel pin diaphragm... if your pressurizing the housing i dont see why you could force air past the rack pin into the pump itself causing it to act like it's gulping air... deffinately sounds like a lack of fuel for sure. whether it be from air getting in the system or as whitmore had said the fuel shut off solenoid is faulty

 

i was talking about the fuel diaphragm .ok how can i check if the solenoid is faulty?

 

with an ohm meter i have the dealer service bible in my 93 ill look it up tomorow & get back 2 ya bout it the reading it should be putting out & the proper way to test it
