Default intercoolers on 1st gens?

hey all,

does anyone know where you can get a good intercooler for a 1st gen thats already intercooled.

A 7.3 powerstroke I/C is a very nice upgrade. There is a thread about it in teh aftermarket 1st gen section. No one makes a off the shelf aftermarkt cooler for the 1st gen.

but my question is while like a 2nd gen intercooler work too?

Yeah 2nd gens fit. The 7.3 is larger and flows better but if you have a 2nd gen I/C'er already then do that.

what years of 7.3 powerjokes will i need to look for and will the boots and coolertubes fit.

Up to around 2002 or whenever they switched from the 7.3 to the 6.2 or whatever it was. You should upgrade all the plumbing, tubes/boots, to match the I/C's in/outlets - 3". Why upgrade the cooler if you are not increasing the capacity of the plumbing to match?

Good point! And try and get a I/C'er with the metal end caps. They will hold more boost.

I always use exhaust pippe for teh tubes and these guys for teh couplers

Silicone Couplers

They hold 60+ psi on the pulling truck for over a year now... Get the good band clamps tehy sell also.

thanks i iwll do that but for the 7.3l cooler is it a 3'' outlet. for the three inch hoses or exhaust pipe.
