What kinda of job is it to switch from an auto a518 to a 5 speed? Both tranny's 2wd, convertering my 93'. Getting an 89' Cummins reg cab with everthing but motor for $500, so have all the parts on the 89 to put onto my 93. Is it a couple week ordeal, something I can do myself at my buddy's shop?

You have a 2wd auto, so you have the small tranny hump. All 5spds had the larger hump, so plan on to modify that.

As long as you have a donor truck, it shouldn't be to hard. I would suggest rebuilding the 'Rag before you put it in your truck. Especially since you don't know how it was maintained or anything. Thats just me though.

 

it wasn't abused to much i know the guy, he's the guy I bought my wheels and tires from and is a well know person in the 4wd industry as he builds the biggest and baddest mud trucks and has a hell of a shop. I can't remember how many miles, but I do plan on getting a upgraded clutch and that good stuff while its out.

 

i have always wanted to do the same swap but to a nv4500 though, as i heard many good things about them. hopefully this summer i can find one and have it finished in about 2 weeks.
