Hey, I'm back. Well, I bled the fuel system and messed with the pump a bit and it idles good and drove good up and down my street. It no longer blows white smoke idling, but it does blow blue smoke when i get on it, a little black first then a cloud of blue. The oil is good and clean. What the hell. What does blue smoke mean, other than burning oil?(which it shouldn't be) Any ideas?

hmmm no idea. mine does it when it's warm but not up to operating temps. may just be a little bit of oil getting into the exh housing of the turbo. not sayin it is for sure that; just a possibility

I have no idea what the heck i did to my motor. It only has 133,000 miles on it, it's never over-heated and ran perfect. now it smokes blue when i rev it and now i notice a puddle of oil that is coming from the front of the torque converter. The dip stick oil looks good and has no fuel in it. So, I'm afraid she's going to the shop...gulp. what a disapointment.

the oil from the TC sounds like a rear main... mine does the same and i'm... just about 4,000 over you on mileage... so the oil thing has nothing to do with your pump mod. and your sure it is a blue smoke? did you look into turbo problems? if an engine is getting oil from someplace the most likely place is the turbo

Where, on the turbo, would be a good place to start looking for the possible problem? I'm pretty much clueless about diesels and feel kinda dumb right about now.

Is the blue smoke up high in RPM when your getting on it?

Get a fuel pressure gauge. Sounds like your running out of pressure. The timing advance in teh VE relies on inlet pressure. If you run out of inlet pressure to the pump you get timing issues and blue smoke. Get a guage on it and let us know.

Before it gets to temp, there is a trace of smoke idling, then once it is warmed up it idles with no smoke and then, yes it smokes blue on high rpm rev. I 'll order a gauge tonight. You think it will hurt it, to drive it?

i'd avoid driving it as much as possible; or just keep it out of the higher RPM's... if your running out of fuel in the higher rpm's than that means ur pump is running out of lubrication... and the pump will actually try to draw fuel past the lift pump instead of being supplied by the pump... i believe this causes air to be sucked into the system past the throttle shaft too...

electronic is abit expensive... they're sweet and i feel abit easier to install but mechanical is cheaper and more reliable.
