Default 12v IN 87 CHEVY

ANYBODY HAVE ANY INPUT IN PUTTING A 92 12V IN A 87 CHEVY? I WANT TO USE A NV4500 TRANS. I HAVE A DRIVING 92 DODGE WITH A 46RH FOR PARTS BUT CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONTROL THE OD IF I USE THE TRANS.

get wiring diagrams for the current truck and transmission, identify the inputs for the function of the PCM ie: tps, engine speed, vehicle speed, power ground, memory. ignore the rest then just concentrate on wiring those things up. that's just vague idea of what it'll take, i'm not too familiar with the tranmissions so i'm sure someone can further elaborate, but either way i believe a pcm will be required. just concentrate of core necessities for the function of the pcm.

its a easy swap but you will also need the tubular front crossmember from avalanche engineering to make install easier, you cant beat it for 400 bucks, the tranny is not computer controlled, its a hydraulic unit, hence the "H" in RH......

ah, my mistake. sorry to try and pump the wrong info into your head, told ya someone with more understanding would correct me i just assumed since it had an overdrive unit it had some electronics. alls i know is our 47RE blew up AGAIN last night... idk why we can't get a transmission to stay in this truck its all stock other than 4" exhaust and the aneroid has been tweaked slightly, nothing more. even paid like 4 er 500 bucks extra to beef up the weak links, lower stall converter with a continuous ring that bolts to the flex plate. aluminum piston with a steel ring instead of the plastic and teflon or w/e the ring was made of, and then the rod and band lever that is apparently known to break or drop out on these things. (it hunts for gears) shift down and up, down and up. actually started doin a real odd thing of running in 3rd, downshifting to 2nd or some other "half" gear and then hit overdrive. kmusg sorry to butt in on your thread, props for the 12v conversion.

i have the infamous 46rh in a 93 and got it for 500 dollars drove but wouldnt charge had no overdrive and speedo didnt work. pcm fried replaced it everything works now. so hate to bust your bubble BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE PCM for overdrive, thats where the od off button comes in. the good news is the 12v is fairly simple electrically you might be able to just shoot 5v to the od solenoid and make it go into od though, with like an on off toggle or something?

You can control od shifts with a toggle. No need for PCM.
