Default Turbo off a 99 Cummins

My buddy got a new turbo and everthing for his 98 or 99 Cummins, he said that he thinks the turbo is a 40 and has the exhuast housing an what not still all hooked up. Would it work on my 93 1stgen?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

His is a 24V, I think he said one of his other buddies with a 12v older motor like mine, he said his buddy used it for alittle while but he took it back cause he didn't want his buddy to blow the turbo up just testing it out.

If you want to install a factory turbo on your 1st gen, do a HE351 off of a 3rd gen..

is it the stock turbo? if so its only a 35, not a whole lot better then your stocker except it has a smaller exhaust housing.

if its a garret its not stock, all the cummins have holsets in the, Sounds like it has been upgraded. Get EVERYTHING off it you can such as numbers. IF it has a tag on it post a pic. Get a couple pics of the turbo too! You might just luck out!

10-4 he's coming over tommrow to help take off my 36' swampers off my 75' GMC mud truck as he's buying them, so ill ask him about it and probley head over to his house and check it out.

also said he had it fully rebuilt an what not, so hopefully its an upgraded turbo. Plus he said the guy before him had put bigger injectors an what not in the truck, so it might have been un upgraded turbo.

I think the 5-speeds and autos have the same turbo. Get the numbers off it.
