Yea the previous owner that I bought it from had it for about 8 months but only drove it about 3-4 miles as he was going to use it as a pull truck but found a 5 speed single cab CUMMINS 92 not to long after-wards and never did anything with it and the previous and i think origianl owner had it as a company truck buying and selling houses. Been under truck and it looks pretty much all stock underneath.

Could have had a gear swap or something at some point. Check and see what gear is on the end of teh speedo cable.

Default speedo and cruise control problem

I am a nubee and have been on the site a couple of times but I definitely do not have the how it works part down..

I have a speedo problem with my 91 cummins dodge... The speedo just quit... I have tried taking out the part that attaches the cable to the transmission ... the one with the gears in it... and connected the cable directly to the transmission... I was told to try that on my last post here... They told me if nothing happened that the part was not bad i.e. it the part was bad the speedo would read but not at the right speed... that did not happen... I replaced the part... The speedo was replaced a year ago with a rebuilt unit from a reputable rebuilder... then the electronic part that connects to the attaches to the end of the small gear ratio part was changed and it started to work again until recently... then the speedo just quit... I pulled in for fuel with a working speedo and pulled out with a non working speedo... could you give me your best advice as to where I should go next... I have a GPS so I can read my speed but I would like to get my cruise control back... Also if there is a better place to ask this question please tell me where... I am at a loss as to where to start... the new site changes have turned my head around... I was just getting used to the site and now I feel lost again

Thanks for any help you can give me

i have a 91 cummins with the same situation. my problem is the pinion gear that spins off of the tail shaft of the transmission has the the shaft rounded off on the end where the reduction box attaches to. it's 200 bucks to fix the damn thing
