Default What to look for in a 1st Gen

I've found a 90 model dually with a 5 speed, don't know the mileage, haven't looked at it yet. Has a flatbed on it. The guy's asking $1800, and for my area that's a decent price. I want the truck for the engine & chassis so it doesn't matter what shape the body's in.
What I need advice on is what to check when I go look at the truck. I know the power of the 1st gen won't compare to my 3rd gen but have read some other posts on how to bring the power up. I've driven 1st gens and know how well they run. I'm planning on putting a 40's model cab on the chassis and building a car hauler. Any suggestions/help on what to check on the truck?

The newer grill design (92-93) is InterCooled and the older (89-91) one is Non-InterCooled...

KDP is a nasty little thing... But find out if it been dealt with...

A = where the pin suppose to be...
B = Damage it causes...

Thanks for the pics. I understand what to look for but wha'ts KPD???? If the pin is gone (broken I assume) and causing a leak is that a major problem? I can see where a pin adrift amongst gears is a problem.
Anything else I need to look at? Anything on the pump? The guy says the truck has a Clark transmission. Does that sound right? When did the Getrag come out?
