Default What To Buy ?

Hey everybody, I m new to the forum but i have read alot and it seems you guys know what your talkin about. I currently have a lmm duramax but I want a ole truck to putt-putt around town in to save miles on my new one. Im a chevy man but the old chevy diesels are crap and i know the cummins is indestructible. I want a 4wd truck that is reliable. I wouldnt use it for towin or anythin ike that, just drivin and raisin a little hell . I would probably turn it up a little and probably in the future make a full - blown pullin machine out of it since im gonna attend NADC in the future. my question is, should i buy a first gen or a second gen 12v. I dont wanna spend too much money though. atleast right now any help would be greatly appreciated. have a nice evenin

Go for a cheap second gen 12v! More power potential, better ride, lotsa aftermarket support and officially

my family owns/has owned several of each gen dodge, if you want an inexpensive DD that's a platform for future bombing I think the 2nd 12v is the way to go. the 1st gens are awesome barebones, solid work trucks and should all have stick shifts! I'm not really a fan of our 2nd 24v, it's not a bad truck, just not as good, IMO.

first thing on the 2nd gen is get a georend or suncoast converter and VB, then continue to slowly mess with the engine.

No prob man! The 97 has the highest hp of the 12v right off of the bat, but any one from 95 96 or 97 you will have a solid start to a great pulling rig! You going auto or manual?
