I built this transmission myself, with all new steels and clutches, servos, FTI torque converter, and a transgo shift kit. The transmission was a core, I know nothing about its original condition.

Got the truck back together and first-second shift is perfect, maybe a little early, but smooth as butter. 2-3 shift it revs up for a second and then shifts great. After that, it doesn't want to down shift unless I bring it all the way to a stop.

Anybody have any clue what could be a cause here? I just rechecked my bands, and they are now set to factory spec. If I remember correctly, I adjusted the TV cable property, but i am going to check that again.

Has anybody ever had this exact issue with a 1st gen 518 and got some experience with this sort of problem?

 

Generally, when it doesn't want to downshift or kick down, its the TPS or TV cable....
