That implies you would also continue running an engine with severe fuel dilution.

So what we have here is either the definition of willful ignorance, or somebody who cannot admit they are wrong.

Oil usage solved!
The 250 mile qt oil use has a happy ending. I had Blackstone Labs do an oil analysis and it came back showing no wear to speak of (343K miles too!). So, I took the truck to Northland Diesel, in Bellingham WA to be checked out. They called the next day and said the valve cover gasket had been pinched in the back. When the engine ran it blew oil out the back of the cover. Oddly, I saw no loose oil on the block and it didn't drip when parked! I had had the valves adjusted by a Dodge dealer who I later learned had just lost their old diesel guy. I'll be having words with the new one....
Just to be sure that was the only issue Northland took apart the turbo. It was dry on both ends so no problem. But, since the truck is there, and since there is 343K miles on the turbo, I had it rebuilt.
Amazing a crimped valve cover gasket could loose so much oil, amazing there wasn't signs of the oil leakage on the sides of the block, and really amazing all the oil blew off when running so did not show puddles when parked.
I'm reminded I have changed THREE starters before finally learning to clean the battery terminals first.... In other words, start at the simplest and work out, at least with these gen 1 engines!
