Default Lower idle further?

Hey there, I have my fuel screw in about 2 1/2 turns. Idle was about 850 with the idle screw backed all the way out and the throttle plate riding on the ear where the idle screw is. I bumped the timing last night, and now it idles around 1000. This is WAY too high for my liking. Any suggestions besides re-clocking the throttle shaft/plate? I would prefer not to modify the plate, but am willing to as a last resort.

Re-clocking is the easiest method in my opinion. You'll get more throttle travel out of it as well. You can also grind the lever that goes against the idle adjust screw.

Here is the sticky for that:

Re-clocking gains more travel but a higher idle, does it not?

Depends which way you clock it. I would re-clock to get more travel and grind off the arm until you've reached your desired rpm. (750-850)
