Default HELP ! from those who know first gens?!

Hey guys, i figured this would be the place to ask becuase im about to strangle the parts guys in my town here.
im doing a brake job on my 1990 w250. rear went fine becuase i had the 2 &9/16" rounded hex socket (took three times from a part store to get that right)
now when it comes to the front i can get this far and CLLEEARRRRLY its not the 2 & 9/16 " socket.
so my quesiton, what size is this heffer??
ive tried 2 3/4 but it wont even fit in the hub and obviously 2 9/16 is to small and rounded
and please dont tell me its a 2 & 9/16th or ill cry

I don't know what size it is but if you cant find a socket to fit it then you might try a hammer and chisel.

I don't think that's the right nut. Mine looks completely different and uses a socket that has pins that engages slots, not flats on the nut.

I'm thinking that's the older type of nut from a 1970s REAR axle.
In that era Dodge (and other makes) used 2 really thin nuts to lock the rear hub bearing in place.
This appears to be one of those, but don't take me literally on that.

I am not sure of the actual size, though.

Mark.

Even if the size is 2-9/16", your socket won't fit because it has round corners.
