Default Advice, Opinions, ideas

So I have a stock 90 ctd with the 727 torqueflite ive had it for two years now and absolutely love it. Just over a year ago I fried the reverse sprag and cracked the case at the rear input spline, so I found a new case and had Aamco rebuild the tranny, the case was $600 and I think $2100 for the rebuild. So one year and nine days later im out in the sticks getting fire wood going back in for the second load of the day im in Drive just creeping up to a washout and I lose Drive and 2nd gear I still have 1st and reverse I recall hearing a "pop" when it happened. I contacted Aamco and was informed that my warranty had expired by nine days. My issue, i'm flat broke thinkin about parting this thing out so I can get back into a rig I could try and find a shop who financed the work other than Aamco and try that route but I don't know if its worth it I would almost be scared to drive the damn thing after it got fixed. Just wondering how the tranny would go out after about 10,000 miles of use and I don't think im too abusive it is a cummins truck. Any help would be appreciated.

wow,10,000 miles and the tranny goes.
can you take the top of the tranny off and get a look into the tranny to see if something just came loose?

I think you mean the bottom of the tranny, a 727 is a 3 speed auto. But that is a good idea drop the pan and see if you can tell what went "pop".

Default re

i was underneath it this morning pull the pan everything looked "normal" to me im lost when it comes to automatics the fluid lookes brand new no weird smell but i did notice a small leak near the rear of the tranny maybe from the gasket or the high pressure line going to the tcase i couldnt see up there but a leak back there would be indicative of a possible cracked case?
