Default should i trade my 2nd gen for this 1st gen ?

my 2nd gen info - 96 4x4 2500 12 valve , 2.5 inch level kit , 35inch tires , 1 inch offset rims , 390,000k ext cab longbox , needs new exhaust , has play in front end , needs wheel allignment , needs new drivers seat , mostly cosmetics

1st gen info- 93 12 valve ext cab long box , not lifted , 4x4 2500 , has 450,000k has gauges , and its STANDARD my 2nd gen is AUTO , so thats the main thing i wanted , this 1st gen has dents to

Preference. I'd rather have a 1st gen than a 2nd. Fewer known issues with a 1st gen.

Either one needs constant tinkering, but the first gen is easier to tinker on.
Parts for the first gen are kind of a PITA to find, though.

If you can't choose between one or the other, how about a combination of the 2?
Maybe this little guy below with a P-7100 12 valve and say a 5 speed?
Or maybe a 6 speed and Common Rail?
