Default AAAWWWWW MAN!

So I did it I bought one! Ive been reading on here for several weeks now, working my way up to buying a gen 1 cummins. I bought the truck from my old man took some convincing and prolly more money then its worth about 9 grand ....He bought the truck about 15 years ago and has never used it...he bought two of them meant to be work trucks for the farm. The one I bought was the backup. He never did anything with it as about 10 years ago he had a stroke that affected and disabled the right side of his body, but the lord permitting he is still with us The Awesome thing about this truck is it only has 101,433 original miles on it....the interior is pristine and been shadded from the sun!!! The body is straight as an arrow rust free the frame is still painted black.....the only thing wrong is the clear coat is pretty bad from just sitting in the sun at the farm....and everything is still very dusty.... It also has an exhaust break....which isnt very common on this motors from my understanding.....which makes me worry abit cause ive heard without heavy duty valve springs you can float them pretty easy?.... pics coming quick!

I don't think you paid too much for it. Nice truck, well equipped and low miles. Great find I'd say.

I was excited about buying it and this may not be the place to post it but I did have a question about the exhaust brake I don't see a brand name on it or anything I guess its ok but I was worried about it causing to much back pressure. I plan to turn up the pump put a fuel pin in it and governor spring...I don't really want to get to wild with it I want my egts to be low if I decide to pack or pull anything some pretty steep mountain roads here... This would have the large H1c right? So I guess should my egts be alright and everything work ok with those small mods? I plan to get gauges first.

Beautiful truck man. I just bought mine a few weeks back and I love it. Best thing ever, and it only gets better. Sweet part too, got it for 3500 bucks. It's been used quite a bit more though.
Already spilled around a 1000 into it and don't regret it at all. Good luck man. Let us know how it all goes.

That looks like a BD diesel exhaust brake. I love mine, but the springs may be an issue. I know when I got my gov spring; I was told be a reputable shop that upgrading the valve springs was not necessary. It may be the same for the exhaust brake. Get a gov spring for $20, do the free pump mods and it will run much better. I upgraded my turbo too. The H1c is good for 20psi, or at least that's all mine would do. I saw 45psi out of the hx40 I upgraded to.

You got a good deal IMO and it looks like a decent truck. The only other thing I upgraded was the brakes to a hydroboost system. It makes a world of difference if you tow.

Ty for the replies....so cleaned her up today climbed up on and under to get the numbers off my turbo assy. # was 3531456 so I guess that means I have a 18 cm2 housing im happy its not the 21! (seems to big).....I want to keep my mpg so I dont want a fast spooling turbo.....and I like that added benefit of the exhaust brake which is a pacbrake the elbow said when I was crawling all over it....but if I went with a 4" exhaust back from the dp....would it help my egts much if they were getting kinda high from turning up the pump and doing a fuel pin mod.......maybe im a bit worried of hurting the thing......

Well I just got my gauges installed and replaced the broken radio what do you think? I also just ground down my fuel pin prior to installing the gauges just following the stock slant but got it pretty thin polished it up and made it pretty. It made a big difference, but got me wondering how much more I could turn the pump up? The pyro sensor is installed post turbo cause I already had a hole there due to the pacbrake... My egts where at about 500 ish just running up and down the road if I really got on it hard they would hit just shy of 800! Im guess if I was pre turbro 1000 to 1100 ish right? I was really surprised to be hitting 20s on my boost when I would step on it. So I haven't touched my fuel screw yet..... how much do you think I could turn that up and still be safe to tow haul with? Or what other upgrades should I do to make a big difference keeping my 3" exhaust brake?

Look into the 60 mm turbo upgrade from Gillett Diesel.

It has been ordered! o.O looking into getting it painted this week any ideas? going to fill the old getrag with some royal purple syncro max too or is the amsoil 0w-30 better supposed to have been rebuilt before my dad bought it wanted to make sure it was ok.

I thought the 60mm would be ok for what I wanted to do I don't want to get crazy just have enough to tow and make the stupid kids in this town look stupid once in a while.....I live in an oil field community....It would make sense if you could see it

Looks like PacBrake exhaust brake to me. I have one on my 93 D350. Works very well.

I also put on a 60 mm compressor. I had put in 7x10 injectors, and they hazed at idle and smoked under any acceleration. The 60 cleaned it up considerably, but it will roll coal and hurt the tires if I mat the throttle.

My tranny is A518, Goerend TQ, Transgo shift kit, Tough frictions, and a bunch of reliability parts.
