I agree 100% with the comment about the 2nd gen "hotshot Rigs" being well thrashed.
I've had opportunities at 2 or 3 in the last few years.
2 were actually decent trucks EXCEPT that both had the frames cracked all to hell around the driver's side trans/frame rail area.
One had a less than nicely repaired frame and had a badly weathered OOS order still on the window for the frame.
That's hard to overcome, because now the VIN is in DOT's database as a critical OOS and simply swapping the frame won't do.
Now, IIRC, it has to have at least a reconstruct title and proof it was done by a competent shop or owner.

Well the deal has been struck 3500 and an extra set of wheels and tires and rear axle from an old parts truck he had. He will bring it here Friday from Lubbock a 2ish hour drive from where I'm at

i still wanna know how you guys get mileage from these things. my 92 dually auto has never done better than 14 empty. I love the truck just wish the mileage was better.

Well, to get your mileage up, freshen all your fluids. Make sure you have the correct tires on your truck and they are aired up. Cut down on wind resistance. Then, after all that, get a good fresh air intake, and a good 4 to 5" after the turbo on back. Go with at least a 16cm turbo housing.
Also, add a small propane injection system. I build my own, for under $250, and it adds about 2 to 5 MPG's.
My fairly stock 91' D350, if I baby her with my right foot, she'll get close to 30mpg, but I have her setup for mileage. You can get mileage or you can get performance, not both. Trying to get both will mean a compromise on the one or the other.
Now, my 91' D350 Hotrod, has a pump, cam, injectors, twins, CO2 spray to cool things down, Tall tires, NV4500 with a good clutch, is way too fast and on her best day, gets about 13 to 15 with a strong tailwind. And Thats easy on the throttle....

My 92 with a getrag gets 22 to 27 empty 26 to 27 running propane.
Loaded 10 to 14 depending how big the trailer is.
I pull campers for a living with it and I see 4000 to 8000 miles a month.
My other 92 with a auto the average empty was 24 and loaded 9 to 14.
I'm running a open stock air filter no houseng timing bumped up and check tire psi every day. I've been running propane on both for over 2 yrs which helps on mpg also.
Still need to do the exhaust. Both are running straight but still stock diameter.

Mark is totally right about the frame cracks, they're either cracked by the trans cross members, by the steering box, OR by the rear spring brackets. I do those repairs, as long as they're done neat, welded good, and don't look like crap, the DOT Super will OK them.

Well I didn't get the 93 d350 but i did end up scoring a 93 international 4700 with a dta 360. The game plan is the same reliable starter rig gona get all new fluidsand want some cheap and easy upgrades. Thinking of turning the pump up and run a water/methanol kit. Does anyone recommend a water/methanol kit that won't cost me an inch off my dick. Was thinking of also adding propane kit but lots of places say not to and its so expensive. Would like any help I can get. Any tips/addice or knowledge on this truck?
